Help Rawaa and her family in Gaza
United States
Hello, my name is Hanna and I am based in the U.S. I am fundraising on behalf of my friend, Rawaa Sooker and her family, who are experiencing the horrors of genocide in Gaza.
Follow her story and experience on tiktok.
Rawaa, pictured above on the far left [prior to Oct 2023], along with her family of 13 have experienced unimaginable loss from the IOF bombings. Rawaa is 18 and was looking forward to taking her exams to enter University. Her father was a lawyer and her mother a teacher. She had just welcomed a nephew, baby Maher, into the family.

Since October of 2023, her family’s home and business in northern Gaza have been destroyed by the constant bombings of the IOF. They have lost family, friends, their livelihood and have since been displaced over 10 times and are now living in a make-shift tent in Khan Yunis. Her nephew Maher, now a one year old, has known nothing but war and violence. Baby Maher now suffers from lack of food and water and trauma from the constant sound of bombing and drones.
The borders have closed and not only are people unable to leave, but aid is unable to enter the country, skyrocketing the cost of food, water, shelter and medicine. Sanitation is nonexistent and food and water are extremely difficult to obtain.

Rawaa and I video chat daily, sometimes as bombs drop around her and we try to make each other smile even if it is for only moments. She has shown me the devastation of her surroundings and she is who she says she is: an incredible young Palestinian woman desperate to save her family.
Anything you donate will go to help Rawaa and her family survive the genocide. Winter is coming and it is urgent they are able to gather blankets, jackets and sweaters to survive the coming months.
Please donate what you can, share the page and together we will fight for a Free Palestine
When the ceasefire was called in January, Rawaa and her family traveled back to their home in the north. The return was bittersweet, they were overjoyed to reunited with family but devastated to have to bury her cousin whose body had just been recovered from under the rubble.
They spent the next few weeks going through what was left of their home. Collecting anything that could be salvaged, baby clothes, toys and shoes. They set up a tent that they shared with their extended family and reunited with loved ones and neighbors.
As we all know now, the ceasefire was shortlived. Israel re-ignited its assault but with more violence and brutality than ever. Rawaa and her family are now displaced again. A small number of aid trucks entered the region for the first time this week after 70 days of siege. One bag of flour, enough to sustain the family for several days, now costs $800 USD.
Although morale is low Rawaa continues to work hard to fundraise for her family and ensure their survival. She sends her appreciation to all of her and knows that together we will see a free Palestine.
As many people celebrate the start of the new year, the Palestinian struggle continues. Luckily Rawaa and her family have had some moderate protection from the heavy rain and winds by sheltering in a partially bombed building. News has arrived, however, that the family will once again be forced to leave to an unknown destination. In order to survive they will need to secure funds to purchase a tent as well as a ride to get to their next destination since the small childern and her grandmother will have a hard time making the journey on foot.
Any amount you can send will help!
Rawaa’s 13 year old brother, Ibrahim was injured in a nearby bombing on his way to pick up bread for the family. He is thankfully still alive but has fractured several bones in his arm. He’s incredibly brave but in pain.
Rawaa has been able to partially return to studying for Tawjihi which is the final year of high school. This is a very important milestone for Palestinians. Oftentimes people will continue to ask about your Tawjihi well into your 30s. Until now, even through past massacres in Gaza, education has never been canceled.
Israeli forces continue to block aid and humanitarian trucks from entering Gaza. Moreover they have now labeled the United Nations Aid Group a terrorist organization. This animalistic tactic is an effort to expedite famine and starvation.
Here is our ask: Keep hope and do what you can. Donate, participate in a local protest and join or continue the BDS movement to boycot companies that invest in Israel. Remember, the only language the oppressors speak is money.
